Create powerful photos using wide-angle lenses and a book which covers the specifics. There are plenty of general photography how-to titles on the market, so it's refreshing to see a book devoted entirely to the successful use of a lens which can produce so much, yet which can prove challenging and difficult/5(10).

This is an OK book about composition, especially composition with wide-angle lenses, but it’s more basic than I expected, and there’s a lot of repetition and “padding”. Most of the book discusses using 24mm lenses, but there isn’t much about using shorter lenses, which i think are more interesting and more challenging to use/5(39).

The author tried to cover some technical details like chromatic aberration and distortion in wide angle lenses but many details were too brief. If you want to write a good book in wide angle photography covering both the art and science of it, the book has too be /5(52).

I have been creating images for over fifty years and Wide-angle lens book used my many wide-angle lenses in many different ways for many different results.

This is the Wide-angle lens book book that I have read that has shown the varied and magnificent uses of wide-angle lenses. The author writes in a clear and understandable manner/5(5). Book description The very thing that makes wide-angle photography so compelling also makes it a challenge: While you’re sure to capture a vast scene using a wide-angle lens, it can be difficult to direct the viewer’s attention when so many elements are included in an image.

A wide-angle lens is a lens that has a focal length that is shorter than that of the normal lenses have an angle of view of between 40° and 50°. Wide-angle lenses have an angle of view that is bigger. For the film format (the most popular photographic film type), normal lenses are 50mm focal length.

35mm (with an angle of view of 63 degrees) and 28mm (75°) are slight wide. Personally, I love photographing sand dunes, and wide-angle lenses are perfect for showing the crazy lines all around me. A lot of people also love using wide-angle lenses to photograph waves that have washed ashore, or any other interesting foreground objects.

With wide lenses, like a 20mm or 24mm, you can capture more of the scene in front of you. You’ve probably used wide lenses for photographing landscapes or real estate; however, you can create some amazing portraits using wide angles, too.

As with all types of lenses, wide angle lenses are all over the map in price. A Canon 14mm f/L II USM will run you upwards of $2, and a Nikkor 14mm will typically be at least $1, Alternatively, you can grab a Sigma 14mm for only $ and a similar Tamron for $   To use your wide-angle lens the right way, tilt the lens at a downward angle more.

This will do two things. Your backgrounds will drift into the distortion zone of a wide angle lens and will be stretched to appear larger than they would if they were closer to the center of the frame. If we use our mountain example from earlier, you will achieve. David Middleton Whether he’s leading a workshop or taking photographs for another book, David Middleton says that lately he has been using his Nikkor AF-S mm ƒ/4 in very tight, confined areas, “in just the opposite situation from the wide-open spaces in which most photographers think about pulling out their wide-angle zoom lens.”.

Angle of view. A lens is considered wide-angle when it covers the angle of view between 64° and 84° which in return translates to 35–24mm lens in 35mm film format. [citation needed]Characteristics. Longer lenses magnify the subject more, apparently compressing distance and (when focused on the foreground) blurring the background because of their shallower depth of field.

16mm ultra-wide angle lens - sunset near Death Valley, California, USA. OVERVIEW. A lens is generally considered to be "wide angle" when its focal length is less than around 35 mm (on a full frame; see camera lenses: focal length & aperture). This translates into an angle of view which is greater than about 55° across your photo's widest dimension.

You can use a wide-angle lens to create some arresting photos, but wide-angle lenses can also cause some photographic catastrophes. Avoid these pitfalls: 1 Avoid skewed horizontal and vertical lines. Watch those horizons and the vertical lines of buildings so they don’t look skewed in your photos.

Keep the camera level as much as possible. On a full-frame camera, any lens with a focal length of 35mm or wider is considered a wide angle lens, while 24mm and wider is considered an ultra-wide angle lens. On crop-sensor or APS-C cameras, you’ll need a lens with a field of view of 65 degrees or more (28mm focal length on a full-frame camera) to get the wide angle effect.

An ultra-wide angle lens produces images with extremely wide angle of view. It is a popular choice among architecture and landscape photographers, because it can fit much of the foreground, as well as the surrounding elements in the photo.

The key to capturing gorgeous panoramic views is to avoid auto-focus. I've used the phrase “zoomed-out” (in inverted commas) to describe a wide angle of view. That's not strictly accurate as a wide-angle lens is not necessarily a zoom lens so, if anyone can think of a more technically accurate way of describing it that's equally accessible to the lay person, please do so.

Dricherby1 January (UTC). It was the first super-wide angle zoom lens for still cameras (most 35mm SLRs). Previously, combining the complexities of rectilinear super-wide angle lenses, retrofocus lenses and zoom lenses seemed impossible.

The Sigma's all-moving eleven element/seven group/three cell formula was a triumph of computer-aided design and multicoating. Oxford Online Practice is an online course component for English Language Teaching coursebooks from Oxford University Press.

3 Nostalgic Canon Camera Book. 懐かしいキヤノン. A wide angle lens is sometimes considered as the lens for a photojournalist. The wide angle of view, the ultra-sharp image quality and at times a matching build quality to go with, make a wide angle lens the choice of most photographers around the world, not just photojournalists alone.

If you are reading this article, probably someone told you about the wholesome goodness of a yummy wide. An ultra wide-angle lens is a lens whose focal length is shorter than the short side of film or sensor. [citation needed]Thus the term denotes a different range of lenses, relative to the size of the sensor in the camera in question.

For 1" any 9mm or shorter is considered ultra wide angle.; For 4/3" any 10 mm or shorter lens is considered ultra wide angle. Landscape photography just wouldn’t be the same without wide-angle lenses. Superbly suited for the classic “near-far” style of composition (a staple for most landscape shooters), wide-angle lenses give you the ability to include generous amounts of foreground, background and sky simultaneously, creating photos with considerable depth and compositional power.

John Piper explains it this way: God has the capacity to look at the world through two lenses, a narrow lens and a wide-angle lens.

When the Lord looks at a painful event through the narrow lens, he sees the tragedy for what it is in itself, and he is deeply grieved, as Ezekiel says: “I take no pleasure in the death of anyone.

This Canon wide-angle lens is perfect for you if you’re a full-frame newbie. Along with the f/4L, it’s the cheapest L lens from Canon. The L series consists of Canon’s best quality lenses. It’s not the absolute best in optical performance. But, it’s enough for most applications on a full-frame camera.

Something I’ve long been fascinated by is the way small items can appear monumental when captured close-up through ultra-wide-angle lenses. In my book, the ultra-wide threshold begins with lenses with angles of view of 90°, which on a full-frame 35mm camera is about 21mm.

As a wide-angle lens captures a broad field of vision, this journal expands its focus to include critical and creative works, namely academic essays, book and film reviews, and commentaries, as well as original poetry, short fiction and non-fiction, short films, and screenplays.
